Here we go!!

So, in the past couple of weeks it's been sorta slow going as we've had to get various people in to do various jobs, and inspections and stuff....here's the progression.

First, crushed limestone got put into the foundation and gridded off in preparation of what was to come...

plumbing was added throughout the entire house.

Yep, that's Janna. She and mom and dad were here for our reception a few weeks back so we got to show it off to them :)

Then plastic and more supports for footings.

Then came what is called post-tension cables. This is not necessarily common for this area of the state, but the engineer required it to be put into our foundation because our foundation is so large. It's a series of cables put into the concrete, the concrete gets poured over this system. Once the concrete is dry, the cables get tightened. Basically they ensure that the concrete won't crack. Luckily around here we don't have to to worry too much about the ground shifting or moving. We're basically solid limestone just a few feet down, but because of the size of our house, we do have to worry about cracking concrete. So anyway, this system should in theory mean we don't have issues with that.

Then, the other morning. Tres and I went over in the morning before I left for work to watch them pour the foundation!!! As we were driving around the block up to the property we could see the pump truck above the trees it was so high! Our lot is too narrow for a truck to pull up on the sides without going on the properties next to us, plus our foundation is so huge they really needed this to get it done!

In came another concrete truck to refill the pump truck.

Pour it in!

And away the pump goes, it shoots concrete at an amazing speed. As someone who has mixed and poured concrete by hand in the past, I have a great appreciation for equipment to mix and distribute concrete so efficiently :)

The very next day....dry and ready for building!

As I type this (on Saturday) Tres and I are headed over to the lot because we were told that the lumber has been delivered! The frame (we think) will start going up on Monday! Lots of pictures to come :)
