Saturday, Matthew along with 2 of his friends, competed in the Lobsterman Triathalon here in Freeport.
Matt did the swimming portion, Kaylon did the biking portion, and Pat did the running portion. And they did a great job! They placed 3rd or 4th overall in the relay's, and Matthew came in first in the swimming portion!! He came out of the water with a great big smile on his face, it was so cute.
This is pre-race Matthew.
Here is the first group of swimmers, all lined up in the water. Matt is somewhere on the left. There were maybe 6 groups this size, all starting a few minutes apart from each other.
here is Matt's group after they started. I'm pretty sure Matt is the one on the left with his arm high out of the water. We picked him out almost immediately.
See at the bottom of the picture, the dent in the water? That's Matt!! First in line!

So, out comes Matt. And off goes Kaylon on her bike.
Matt got to talk to Dad. Mom and Dad were on Matinicus...they missed it. They were bummed when I called them to tell them Matt came in first, and they missed it.
Janna and I, and my friend Kathy went down to watch the race. It was raining, and cold. And we were wet and frozen, but glad to be there to cheer Matt on.

So, here we are, trying to stay dry...already frozen. And we weren't even 1/2 way done yet.
Then, back comes Kaylon....
And as soon as they were done, we high tailed it to the car to warm up. We had the heat blasting. We had to wait for maybe 45 minutes for the entire race to be done before we could leave. The race took place on the main road into the park, so we just sat in the car until it was all over. Thank goodness for heat!!!
